You don't need to doubt: this is a shoujo anime alright. I was a bit ambivalent about this new title. The manga has a really strong, almost cult-like following, and though the storyline didn't impress me that much, I was curious about how the anime was going to treat it. In the end, it came down to either RahXephon or Ai Yori Aoshi. RahXephon, being the far better series, was poised to win the battle, but as I stood in the anime aisle at Best Buy this weekend, holding RahXephon Vol. 3 in one hand and Ai Yori Aoshi Vol. 3 in the other, I realized something: RahXephon is a 7 disc release, with an inconsistent episode count to boot.
